Supreme Court will take up controversial Obamacare provision on contraception
Tue Nov 26, 2013
Sarah, your arguments are generally on point, but you undermine them by concluding "because it's the law". Yes, it is the law, and the Greens are looking to have that law struck down. Lots of bad laws have been passed, and many have subsequently been stricken.
One World Trade Center crowned the tallest building in US
Wed Nov 13, 2013
I am not an architect, but for everyone who has pronounced the building ugly, please take a moment to try to describe it.
Maine gov candidate: Yes, I'm gay, 'but why should it matter?'
Mon Nov 4, 2013
I am a Maine resident and live in Rep. Michaud's district. Please be assured that over the course of the past six elections Mr. Michaud never once made issue of his sexuality. Moreover, he is currently leading in the polls. Making his announcement is therefore not a tactic to gain more votes.
Wanted at the Ivys: Needy, high-achieving students
Fri Oct 4, 2013
It is amazing how so many people can speak so authoritatively about what they have no knowledge.
Having trouble with your aim? Chinese contraption helps you 'Pee Straight'
Tue Sep 3, 2013
Not being an expert in Chinese patent law, but under U.S. law you cannot get a patent for a device that is already known Given your indication that there are many such devices already on the market, it is highly unlikely this inventor is entitled to a patent.

Democrats eager to make Romney poster boy for 'Buffett Rule'
Wed Jan 25, 2012
Just an observation regarding the statement that Romney's tax rate is less than that of the average American: His quoted rate of about 14% is the "effective rate", meaning dividing his total tax liability by his total income.
Bin Laden sons say US broke international law
Tue May 10, 2011
I have to reply in defense of Jherek Carnelian. The argument is not that we should feel sympathy for Omar bin Laden. The argument is that the United States of America stands for VERY IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES, and one of those principles is due process and another is a fair trial.
Organs from inmates? That idea should be DOA
Thu Apr 21, 2011
There is a true ethical problem of coercion in the case of inmates who did not previously indicate a desire to donate. Given how little control they have over their lives, controling their organs may be one of the few outlets available to them.
